1993 phase 1 citroen XM 2.1 turbo diesel (XUD)
Showing 285,000 miles but has had a replacement engine at some point

Good:
MOT until August
Hydraulics all work as they should
Engine good and tight, turbo boosts well
Very sold body, sills all solid (1 small patch each side)
Good tires
Tow bar with twin electrics
Good interior
New Valeo radiator fitted
Some spares including 2 hydraulic pumps.

Bad:
Clutch pedal is stiff - clutch itself is fine, cable needs greased or replaced. Having said that it drives fine as it is.
Paint isnt great, the pictures flatter it. Plenty of lacquer peel especially roof, nose cone and spoiler.
Sunroof leaks a bit
Electric windows are temperamental as is central locking

I've advertised it elsewhere for £750 which I don't think is a terrible price but I'd be more open to offers here than anywhere else....

This was my car and although I'm not in a position to buy it it would be remiss of me not to mention what a wonderful car it is, how well the suspension works, and what a good buy it is.

Also it has had a clutch in the not too distant past so I'm sure the heaviness is a matter of lubrication. Or normal...

I read somewhere (possibly elsewhere on this forum) that the auto cable tensioner causes the clutch action to be heavy when it runs out of adjustment.
+1 for what a solid example this XM is - I've been charting its progress over the last couple of years. It could be and indeed, like all old cars, needs to be in regular use. Here's hoping it goes to another Citroen enthusiast to be cherished.

The cable adjuster isn't what makes the clutch heavy, if the friction plate wears down the pressure springs are presented at a different angle, so the clutch feels heavy, but if the clutch isn't particularly worn, it is just the brand of clutch fitted.
The correct Valeo clutch gives a light pedal, all others are heavier.
