Re: Forum slow
I always find it slow late evening around 11pm. I figured it was storing old info or something.

Re: Forum slow
Hi guys,
I wrote some SQL scripts which backup the database and rotate logs etc however these run at 4am (GMT) and take about 5-10 minutes. There's another maintenance routine which runs at 5am which compresses the backups and copies them off to another drive, that takes roughly 10 minutes to complete also. These are processor and disk intensive tasks and the DB server (and hence the site) will slow down a bit when they're running.
However if the delays are being experienced at times other than these its obvious we have a problem somewhere. I notice it hanging occasionly when trying to display a thread but I assumed it was just the crap connection I was using at the time, obviously not if its more widespread.
Anyone whos experienced it, does it happen with any pages / functions in particular, i.e when displaying a thread, trying to load the index page, or is it just random and unpredictable?
Will try and get to the bottom of it, of course the webserver logs say everythings fine Dave but we all know better than to believe anything a computer says

Re: Forum slow
It's a bit random, sometimes no problem at all, sometimes whenever loading a new page.

Re: Forum slow
I'm experiencing exactly the same issue. It has seemed very slow at times the last couple of days. But then can be quite quick other times. It's quite random.

Re: Forum slow
I'm going to run a performance monitor on it for a period of days to see if there's any spikes in CPU activity etc at certain times then we can see if we can corrolate these times with times people notice slowness, there's definitely something going on...
