Hi guys,
This problem should now be resolved, long story but it was caused by another program on the network going ape and interrupting communication between the web and database servers, will post more detail when I have proper access, I don't from current location.
Sorry for the delay in responding, I've been working away for months with very unreliable Internet connection.

Yeah, I'd noticed some patience was required. But that was OK as I could access other sites and/or work on my email and so on tasks while the forum pages took their time loading
