Really. You just seem to see more TCT or 2.1/2.5 than the 2.0 16v. Probably more popular in the Xantia.

Well progress today in that it is now looking much more presentable, I am surprised how tidy it is, I think it must have spent a good deal of time garaged as it is in better nick than my last one.
I managed to free the stuck control rod for the doseur valve, though I think it is still not right as it does not spring back as far as I think it should and the brake lights stay on unless you physically pull the brake pedal up. It has cured the creak at the rear which is a relief!
Otherwise once everything is bled through properly I don't see why it shouldn't go through an MOT without issue.
I think it would benefit from fresh fuel as it must be a few years old.

The brake light switch is actually built into the pedal pad, and a short length of cable runs from it to a brown 3-pin connector just above the pedal. There is one 10mm nut on the underside of the pedal, which allows the pedal pad/switch to be removed. Open it up (snaps apart) and everything's obvious. A rather basic device! Make contact is brake lights, break is cruise trip-out.

Yes it is great to have you back on the Forum Dave and owning a XM once again and that is an interesting choice of model - as I recall a V6 was preferred! I am glad some of the issues are being resolved and I look forward to catching up and seeing the car. With regards, Matthew T.
