Lovely Rob..looking great. Mandarin always looks wonderful in sunshine.

It's my job next week...break out the polish ect, and shine it up for the X rally.

It's been another dry day again today, so I have done a bit more on MOR. Having got it clean I set about using a clay bar for the first time ever. I bought a Meguiars system with the detailing spray to use as a lubricant. To be honest I am not sure how effective they really are, but I have now done the whole car above the sills and it really does look nice and the paint feels smoother. It also has a coating of decent polish on top.

Must remember to drive it! :P

I think there is a good chance the Hyundai may go tomorrow; we shall see...

At least the Renault replacement seems to have had a generally positive reception.

I like to see all the crap removed from the paint stuck on the bar. I have only used the bilt hamber bar and it is incredible what it lifts off the paint.

:D

The i10 has now gone off to its new owner and so the need to resist temptation begins! Fortunately there is nothing about that I fancy at the moment, and I shall need to be patient to find a BX GTI of the quality I hope to get.

I have used clay bar and it does leave the paint smooth.

Had a run out ion the car today, a round trip of about 90 miles to Newcastle and back and really enjoyed most of it. Had to give it a wash as soon as we got back, however, it was filthy, and it looked so good before we set off.

Had a new problem develop though which is bothering me a bit. Coming back through heavy traffic on the Wstern Bypass, the engine temperature went up a bit but stayed well below half way, which I would have expected, but because it was sunny and warm in the car I turned the heating down - or tried to. No matter how low I set the temp (it has the electronic system with air con) the heater was pumping out lots of heat. Resetting the temperature didn't have any effect at all. In the past I have thought the heater to be surprisingly weed but not today. Any ideas???

That should read "weedy" as in weak, not "weed" as in smokey :D

All set to get off to the X Rally in the morning at some ridiculous hour. Given what the last couple of journeys have done to the appearance of the car, all I can say is that it looked nice when I set off.

I finally seem to have got the gunge out of the washer jets and have all four hitting the glass for the first time in months.

Regarding the heating issue I mentioned the other day, bizarrely it seems to have cured itself; but we shall see when it gets properly warmed up tomorrow.

A third prize rosette at the X Rally today! Well that was a nice bonus to cap a very pleasant day. It was really good to meet lots of the folks I have met through the forum. Having a scrumpy jack to celebrate.
