Like I said. If you do have issues and can get it over to me id do it.

Proper flare tool aren't as cheap as 40 quid. The dies might be but the vice mounted flare tools are over 100 quid.. they can be used under a car to make joints but are heavy in the hand to use . .I used to manage. My.flare tool came with 3.5 and 4.5 flares which are the two most common pipes to fail. The 6.5mm main feeds and hydractive strut feed pipes are a lot longer lasting.. usually because they are in the engine bay out of damps way.

A quick update about the V6. Peter is apprehensive about taking on the suspension system but he has been speaking to Pleaides in Sawtry as an option. They are not talking silly money to replace all the spheres, repair the pipes and change other seals and rings, as required. In other words, repairing the suspension system. It’s not too much trouble for Peter to put the XM on his lorry and take it the 35 miles to Sawtry. So it looks like this maybe the right option (Thanks for the recommendation). So we need to have a closer look at the rear subframe, because it does have some corrosion and decide what repairs to make. Then we need to rebuild the brakes, then it will be ready to go for the suspension job. Nobody said it was going to be easy to get the V6 back on the road after siting for over 20 years🤪

Hi, I have just read your post, after putting my last post up. It is very kind of you to offer to help and we may still take you up on the offer. As per my post, we are considering taking the car to Pleaides in Sawtry, as they are not talking silly money for the work. We will get some of the other jobs done first and then make a decision. Cheers👍

The next best place.to be honest. They are proper experts on hydraulic pipes indeed. A good choice.

I've now completed my first subframe drop on the S1 2.0 (following the excellent advice provided) and it wasn't at all difficult The worst bit for me was undoing the exhaust at the manifold, the bolts had rounded / seized and access was awkward working on the floor.
That must be the original, factory fitted, exhaust, which are one piece from the front pipe to the back of the car.
All others, including Citroen supplied, are multi sections.

The rear subframes normally look very rusty, but in reality it's just surface rust.
There are a couple of areas to look at: the top thickness of metal where the rear subframe to body mounts to and the top of the round tube at the very end. Both areas can suffer due to mud/salt build up.

Thanks for this, I am going down to The Norfolk Broads tomorrow, so I am going to call in to Wisbech to see Peter and the XM. We are going to give it a good one over and make some decisions.🤔

The XM is loaded on Peter's truck again, ready to go to Pleaides in Sawtry on Wednesday, for a full suspension assessment and hopefully repair....

I suspect it was a bit easier to load with that suspension lift kit fitted.
