Re: Rob's SED

I had two Rob, the first was my third car after a Mini (which as rotten), an Austin 1300 which was even rottener and a Poxhall Viva which was just a rotter. I was 18 when I had my first R4 and it was a 1969 model with 6v electrics but it did have a four-speed 'box.. That one did me sterling service for a few years and never ever let me down. I then graduated to a 1973 R4 with 12v electrics! What a difference it made to the lights

I then swapped that one in for a 1978 R5 in 1982 but I never bonded quite as well with the R5 as I did the 4s. I loved them to bits...

I kept the 5 until I was posted to Cyprus and there began my long association with MG Metros.

I did not then have another French car until an AX in 1991...

Hello Rob
Old red estate just this morning sailed through it's MOT again, no advisories, they have even given up mentioning the screen crack. I had to put in a few hours beforehand, this time, though.
Nice looking car you have now.

On looks that car was somewhat challenged, but what a goer! I am really pleased you have kept her so fit. Well done. I really enjoyed driving the 2.5 but she did not find favour elsewhere in the family.
I shall post on Monday about my adventures this week end including La Vie en Bleu tomorrow.

Rob

You and me both.
I have no excuse either, it's on my door step. I WILL be going next year.

Did see a brown on brown Bugatti and a coffee brown Renault 4 driving through Town this morning. Hope everything else wasn't brown!!

Love to see your pics Rob. Hope you had a good time.

I always thought La Vie en Bleu was held in some exotic foreign place. Didn't ever appreciate it was held in the UK...

Well it's been an adventure!

Drove down to Stroud on Thursday and had to go the long way (via the M62) because thye M1 was closed only to hit a 50 min delay between Leeds and Bradford, and I never hit hold ups! Came back north this afternoon and blow me another really long delay up the M1! However, K272MOR performed faultlessly holding a constant engine temp and with working air con which was a very pleasant bonus.

She did, however, briefly spit her dummy out on Friday afternoon in a most bizarre fashion; I had been to the tip for my Dad and called to my sisters house to let her dog out and grab a moment's peace and when I returned to "MORreen" she wasn't having anything to do eith motoring. The starter was completely dead. Lots of lights but no turning over. Called the AA and had a beer, so all was not lost :) When the AA man turned up, she started first time   And has continued to start without fail ever since. I suspect there may be a weakness in the live feed to the starter that will have to be investigated.

La Vie was fab! The most enjoyable day I have had at a motor sport event, including seeing Jochen Rindt win the British GP at Brands Hatch a million years ago. The weather was spot on, the venue was excellent and the cars were sublime. I love the sound and smell of old fashioned motor sport, it is a treat for the senses.

These were among the cars in the car park areas:

Isn't it a bugger when you hit "submit" before you meant to? I must be tired.

But I really enjoyed my outing and with a combined age of 173 my parents aren't doing too badly.
