That makes sense. Air makes for retarded timing and soft injection.

Does anyone know if the engine oil dipstick is still available from Citroen?
Or might you have one surplus to requirements?
2.1 diesel auto. The top has disintegrated on mine.
It's probably a silly question but am I likely to lose oil out through it?

Thanks for that. The cap is fine it is just the top of the dipstick itself that has rotted away.

Ebay item 370800882027 - Dipstick.
Odered this item as suggested, double checking on their website that it was the correct one and it came a day ahead of schedule; unfortunately it is not the right one! It is too short by several centimetres. I have contacted tham and they said it must be for a later engine so be warned that you may not always get what you ask for. Hopefully, the correct item will follow.

If you have no success Rob....try Guy Perry or Peugeotcarparts.net , they have or did have the correct 2.1 dipsticks for the 605. Cost me a total £8.98. Took a little while to arrive, buts it identical to my original one. The same happened to my old stick handle, opened the bonnet and it had gone!
I tired citroen and ebay and citroen was useless and ebay I couldn't fine the correct size.

MOR is looking fantastic. I see you have some wheel nut covers too. :D

Cheers.

Yeah, for not very many pennies the wheel nut covers make a difference. Bought some nice logo encrusted dust caps too, but they corrode onto the valves far too easily. If I can find them I shall put them on for the X Rally. Very pleased with the new sidelight too.
