No I did both sides without taking the rack out.
I agree drivers side is easier.
On the passenger side ease the ram end off the bolt stub.
Soften the gaiter and work it over the stub.

OK, thanks John. I'll try and side ease the ram off the bolt stub, I for now cannot exactly see how that works (I thought you would need to take off both bolts of the ram whilst I was having a look) But at least that's good news, not looking forward arghhXM's! :)

Just a bit of engine and transmission oil, a filter here and there and here we go again. It's not my choice but since my employer gives me annual leave in February, I won't stay at home all month. So of to France tomorrow, I hope one of you can send me that one spare part that I did not bring...:)
Hopefully not!
Weather seems to be good for which I am very happy.

No panic:) All is good....
No warp speeds (yet) but did encounter a blue mauritius, UK XM! Too fast to see anything more since it was going the opposite way. It looked beautiful! So I am not the only RHD one around here:)
It's very nice cruising in an XM in France and it's also quite good being used as a work horse, carrying all sorts of stuff in that old trailer. Oh, something did go wrong :) The tow bar came (a bit..) loose :) Nothing I couldn't fix easily though...! Happy days and tomorrow even some sun shine!

Going back to base some long long distance. Wish me luck, all systems still green. Fixed clignoteur handle, the usual but that was all. Ready to go now for a long trip, on 10'w40 synth. which seems to work well.

Thank you RUSS.

Back home this morning in the west of Irland; in one piece.
Left Rosslare harbour this morning at 3.15 AM.
Back home in one go about 4 hours later. With trailer still hanging on!
Got lost on the SATNAV somewhere in between.....I should have updated the thing but I am economical :) :) :)
A 9 hour delay on the way to France...the ferry could not dock cause of the weather.
And a 12 hour delay on the return trip (12 metre high waves around Land's End decided the Captain of the Celtic Horizon to delay the crossing (understandably!)
By the way: Celtic Link ferries is soon to become Stena line :( but I love the crew and ship. Had to be said even though I spent toooo much time there!
XM with trailer, drove without any trouble whatsoever. There's not many cars I can drive in for such long periods of time.
Glad you were all standing by to lend me a hand at finding spare parts that I didn't need! :)
And glad I bought this car:it's just doing what I hoped it would do :)
