Thanks, Jim. It is very pretty, I've had three year old cars that have looked shabbier. Mind you it hasn't reached 31000 miles yet. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of small autos; it is very easy to drive which suits the younger members of the family but it is undergeared and rather too thirsty for my taste. Nice high spec though with electric windows and power steering.

I heartily agree Russ. Everything MK1 is best (says he with an S2 C1  )

I much prefer S1 Xantias, BXs and of course XMs

I understand the arguments about purity of design, but they can easily be countered by those who say that that it is only right to develop and progress. I have not had a later Clio so I can't really comment on them except to say that at the time mine was sold I chose to buy new one of the last R5s rather than the new fangled Clio, but that was probably more due to aggressive pricing rather than anything else.

With regard to XMs I sit right on the fence, I love both, especially if they sit on wobbly webs.

I do have strong feelings on the Multipla, a car widely derided for its looks; we had two original "Ugly Bugs" and and have had our current face lift (sic) for the last 4 years and there is nothing better about the facelift!

Like Vince I have also suffered tribulations with garages, MOT work and rubber boots. In my case it was for the steering rack and the difficulty arose because neither the independent ordering nor the Citroen dealer supplying realised they were looking at a parts image for a left hand drive car. Struggling now to get everything sorted before going away in it tomorrow.

I generally prefer mk1 designs too. They always look better and more pure as the designer intended. The mk1 Clio just looks really fresh and smart even now. The 'surprised headlight' facelift they did, just looked awful.
The current Ford Focus is a rare exception. It's getting a badly needed facelift to make it far more contemporary. hate the current look with a passion.

You hate the Focus :) I think the mk2 of the c5 is a lot better, as an exception to the rule.
Always nice, a new MOT!
