Coincidentally I am expecting a new radiator to arrive tomorrow.

They are available at a good price on Amazon from Germany. Note that the ES9 cars use the same radiator as 1997 -on 2.1s (many online listings confuse them with the PRV radiator).

Your brake valve could be just a broken return hose, or the rubber cap which is available cheaply from Citroen.

Thanks for that, I've also been given a link to a UK supplier:

My independent reckoned that the doseur bits were no longer available...

I had a carcooling rad in my Xantia V6 for a few years and the quality seemed OK (made in Spain I think). I will let you know how the Nissens looks.

service.citroen does not show the doseur parts as NFP, worth calling your favorite dealer?

For the doseur valve just fit a new rubber button. Cheapest from the Citroen dealer and takes about 20 minutes to fit, with no hydraulics dismantling.

A radiator should be readily available, alternatively get it re-cored.

My radiator turned up today. Regardless of the Amazon description (which stated copper) it is an aluminium cored radiator, but I don't think that this should be an issue with an aluminium engine and modern inhibitors.

The new radiator arrived today, having been ordered on Friday, so that's not bad. Before I whisked it off to the independent doing the work, I checked the packaging and was concerned to find it labelled as for a 2.1! I know I ordered the corredct one and have the order copy to prove it, so I called carcooling.co.uk to query the supply to hear a recorded message to say they wouldn't be answering the phones until Monday 23rd and to contact by email; today is Monday 30th! I took the new radiator through to compare against the old one that had been removed and they appear to be identical, so I am hoping for the best.

The LHM leak appears to have been cured by replacing the the whole doseur valve unit with a spare I happened to have. Hope to get the car back tomorrow if all is well when put back together and road tested. Just in time to get a new wheel bearing on the Polo.
Regards

Rob

I had this problem on my gold V6 and have just fitted a new rubber button purchased from the local main dealer and I think the cost was about £20.

Yes I did spot you had a s/h doseur valve fitted Rob which I have also done in the past, so hopefully that will be okay! With regards, Matthew T.

If the same radiator is used on the ES9 and the 2.1TD, it must be pretty over specced for the 2.1.
ES9 generates 150Kw of motive power at 75% loss, so wastes maximum 450kw as heat. The 2.1TD generates 80Kw of motive power at 62% loss, so wastes maximum 210kw as heat.
