Parts diags (S1 and S2) show the item as a (boot) louvre air duct, presumably clipped to the inner wing. I guess yours must have come adrift, and the one on the other side gone complete walkies.

The large chunk of foam I found is not shown on the parts diags. Perhaps an afterthought, but somewhat irregular, n'est pas?

Got a wee bit more done yesterday

The exhaust needed a little help

I'm leaving the carrier off until the welding's been done and the backing plates for the brakes are staying off until I've sorted the wheel arches out. The backing plates have come up okay and, seeing as new ones are NFP and impossible to find, are going to have to do for now

The new gear linkages are on

and ready for the little bit of welding tomorrow. :D

All looking very nice under there! Prehaps getting the backing plates sand blasted and powder coated should bring them up lovely? Are the difficult to remove?

If I sand blasted these all I would have left would be dust on the floor.

Easy to remove, just three screws.

Ray: Jack up the car, remove the wheels, two screws at the front, one at the rear, slide the backplate out. Then, as above, rub down, two coats of rust converter, two coats of stonechip paint. Jobzagudun.

Thanks Neil! It's something I've wanted to do but thought I had to take the brake pipe out too
