The material from the headlining won't be kept. The original one on mine would have been a lighter colour so it will be re-covered which is why I need to take the sunroof cassette out of the car to get at the slider to re-cover that in the same material.

The indents for the grab handles have been a pain to fabricate and tbh once I'd separated front from back the headlining became irrelevant and I worked off the fibreglass mould and the interior of the car.

At the moment the grab handle sections and the front section have fitted to the main part and I'm just hoping when I next go down, on Wednesday, that its all sealed together.

My three months old phone is toast, completely dead, and when they get into it all the memory will have wiped - but it's still got to go back to the manufacturers for testing and verification - 14 days and I could be liable for any costs in refurbishment if I'm found at fault. Like that's going to happen!

I see, so the grand plan is to use the headlining base to recreate the original, which is the whole point!... and recover with new material to hide the 'cut and shut' base. Clever! Fingers crossed it works. It might be wise to hide the cut bits with another layer of something incase the cut lines show through when the lining material is glued on. Just a thought!

Sadly didn't get a lot done today as work and other things got in the way, but the car's back and the welding's done

but my biggest query of the day is this

Now I know my car is a wee bit . . . erm . . . different . . . shall we say, but six strips of metal welded onto the sunroof cassette and then pop riveted to the bodywork? I don't see me taking that out in a hurry.

Oh wow! They should be 4 clips, 2 on the front just behind the drain tubes and 2 in the centre. Then 2 screws at the rear.
Certainly is different! I hope my G plate isn't the same...

If it has a black aluminium lip round the sunroof glass on the outside, it is an aftermarket sunroof fitted for Citroen UK.

The under-bonnet welding looks good Neil and the sunroof brackets must be part of the local fitting exercise presumably and all very strange as you say! Regards, Matthew T.

You seem to have found how they fixed the aftermarket sunroof. It's one way of doing it...Your XM is different Neil!
