The T cutting and shiny wheels worked...

Seriously, you just need to drive it a lot more now.

On Tuesday evening, I met someone that was acquainted with the owner that had it for several years. I sold the next owner the tow bar that enhanced the car.

I realise it's a tongue in cheek comment but it's how I present all my cars for test. Always cleaned inside and out, always checked over to the n'th degree.

She will be used a lot more this year, not just shows and rallies but mooching up and down. She will never be a daily but I did enjoy just driving her to the test centre. The gear linkages and the fresh oil have made a world of difference to the gearbox, although first gear is still very notchy and has to be eased in gently. No knocks or rattles when driving and when the headlining is done this week it will be a completely different car from the shed I bought three years ago.

This headlining is a pain in the backside. Trying to find a company that can match up the sunroof liner is proving fun. All colours around it but none close enough to not be noticeable. It's going to have to be a slightly darker grey but without any blue tinge to it. Funnily enough it will only take a couple of hours to trim up if, and when, I can get the right fabric.

Had a bit of a pig of a fortnight. The gearbox in my brother's C5 stuck in gear and will not move out of gear so had to get another car for him. I used my Xantia to ferry him about with no problems until I was about half a mile from home when the clip on the front height corrector went again. The next day I went out to use the Xantia and once started the clutch pedal dropped to the floor and I couldn't get a gear until I switched it off. Pedal will pull up manually but will now not depress. Possible that the release bearing has pulled out of the plate - on a 30k miles old plate.

So I had to use the XM as my daily as I'm run off my feet with work. She's been a bit lazy starting of late, especially when warm, but inevitably she broke down after a couple of days. She'd crank over but not kick. Had to call out the RAC man as I was getting nowhere. He found there to be no pulse at the injectors and thought crank sensor or wiring to it so had to be towed home so an electrician could look at it. Turns out there was a 'severely chafed' wire to the ecu but the main fault was 'wiring that was so old and knackered it's not worth having' to the fuel relay causing it to overheat. New wiring, connector and relay and she starts a lot easier and idles a lot better as well.

At least the wiring is now fixed. Every cloud and all that... :)

Hello folks, long time no see! The last couple of months have been . . . er . . . fun to say the least. Through some unforeseen circumstances ended up putting my Xantia sinker on the road. I've done more miles in her in the past couple of months than she's done in the past couple of years, and it shows. :( Central locking works when it wants to, offside electric windows don't work at all, rear sphere cylinder is still leaking, if not as much after I fitted a new seal. Christ knows what's wrong with it! And now I've got the rattles from the front end - drop links? ball joints? could be track rods as she now decided that the steering is going to pull to the offside.

I decided to scrap my black Xantia after two time wasters promised they wanted her only to mess me about - and the car was only advertised on FCF. So at the end of this month (all being well  ) the sinker comes off the road and I'll be in my new daily - a 2008 Volvo S60 D5 :D Yep I've left the fold of daily Citroendom. I just don't have the time to fanny about mending the damn things every weekend hoping that it will last until the next. I need something big and reliable, and nothing Citroen offers meets my needs.

As for Goldie, after a couple of weeks of problems I didn't need, she now runs superb. She will come off the road at the end of September when, all being well, the headlining will be done; and no, I'm not jesting, it's still not f@$*@$* finished! The sunroof area is solid but in front of that has had to be strengthened with industrial fibreglass. The indents were just not strong enough to hold onto the main board and so I've decided to fit the plastic backings for the grab handles from a S2.
