Hi Jim, Glad the scooter is making such a strong impression. They are excellent on motorway journeys.
Now.. see you have gone and done it now. Not that i'm prepared to buy a V6 Xant at the mo,...I am quite smitten by them. The exhaust note alone is enough! I would if I could!!

Had a little trip out in my XM today and I agree with everything Jim says about cruising comfort. I'm away down to Stroud next week and really like to use it, but there are some jobs I need to get sorted first before doing a round trip of around 600 miles. Had the Saab sold as hoped, it would have been done by now.

Cars just don't seem to be selling Rob at the mo. Even Matthews MK1 V6 didn't go to anyone. I hope the Saab goes to someone soon so you can enjoy the XM.
Stroud...my neck of the woods!

Went on LPG all the way and find I can get from here to dad's on one tankful and the route is positively littered with LPG stations
I have to say, the ride, comfort and ventilation offered by the XM absolutely knocks spots off of any Xantia. It really is that good. Not as quick as the V6 but oh, so much more relaxed and comfy. I was rather surprised by just how.
Perhaps it's just me and how I am at the moment but never have I done that trip in so much comfort and been so relaxed and fresh at the end.
For now, the XM is really making an impression on me.
Having driven both an XM and Xantia I'm not at all surprised.
My Father had a Xantia VSX and used to complain of hip ache on long journeys, the Xm always leaves me fresh.
I can't really remember the largest mileage I've done in an AM in one day, but it's either 600 miles for work or about 1000 miles on holiday.
I can tell you that 800 miles in a Peugeot 406 is crippling.

I couldnt agree more Jim, i love driving the xm on the motorway and long trips, i loved the nimbleness of the xantia, but the extra size and weight of the xm does it justice....

I enjoyed that day Jim, I even got a car out of it!
Any time you need a hand, I'll be happy to come down
Im delighted to see my old prestige getting the TLC it deserves and that it is impressing you with its long distance abilities.
I can see me returning to XM ownership again ...

To be honest Chris, at the moment she's my daily driver. I have a choice of three cars and I choose the XM as often as possible at the moment...
She'll be off to Aberystwyth soon to bring Robyn home for her birthday and deliver some furniture to her digs... Such useful cars these XMs
I must study LPG availability between here and Aberystwyth

You'd be better off looking to see if there are actually any roads.

I bet it makes a very good daily car Jim, XMs really are very easy to live with!
Will, no need for roads in an XM! When I was over that way we just had rivers to drive down and the Prestige made it without any effort at all

I even took it round the Evo Triangle, which was fun, in the rain

There was last time I went there Will

In fact the Welsh roads between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth are actually quite well surfaced and when there's very little traffic around a real joy to drive on. Interestingly twisty, hilly and scenic

One time I really must take my Activa there.
The big problem is the roads are never really crowded but what traffic is on them does not tend to move at any great pace. The Welsh are pretty laid back and never in much of a hurry..
You notice the roads deteriorate quite markedly when you cross the border back into England
