Hi All,
As if five XMs are not enough, I have just collected another V6, as seen in the attached photo with my Norfolk XM Buddy, Andy, alias Smoothcrusier. Some of you might have seen the car listed on ebay that was sold to a higher bidder although, following further enquires, it turned out to be still available. I have always hankered after an original 'G' plater and this one being relatively local and in Platinum - my favourite colour, as used in much of the early publicity - was especially appealing. It must be one of the first auto V6's having been registered in June 1990. Despite being extremely unkempt and needing quite a number of minor fixes, eg. missing radio, broken boot strut, etc., the bodywork is actually better than my slightly later manual. The mileage is 119,000 and the engine and gearbox feel okay, although there is no history apart from previous owners. A longer-term restoration projects I think!
Regards,
Matthew T.

I thought I was bad with three Honda Z600s (about 10% of the UK population)

I unfortunately scrapped a 1990 G 2.0i seven or so years ago after dropping a bolt down the flywheel while changing the starter motor in the dark.

Nice One Mathew!

I know of another one that colour also an auto.. However, That must have been opted for being an Auto, as they were Manual first, optional auto, then I think it changed to auto/manual no cost option..

Nice colour too! I like it!

Notice: Early SEi trim has a LACK of wood, this being fitted to the 24v models only to start with, then of course, trim upgrades as they went on...

Is that also a lack of electric arm rest too??

Is this it Matthew?

It looks like a very good project. I hope it goes well for you.

Thanks for your comments guys!

I thought you would approve Paul and I personally quite like the lack of wood, perhaps a little austere, especially that it was the original spec. and given in the V6 it only lasted about one year. On the auto gearbox, in my collection of brochures Sept 89 states ‘available early 1990’, March 1990 ‘available 1990’ and September 1990 ‘option at extra cost’, just as you state. No electric arm rest, but a few other treats like heated seats - if they work?

Yes Robert, it is the car you spotted!!

I will put some other pictures on in due course.

Best regards, Matthew T.

I like that car and did consider bidding on it, but am not after a v6 really. I too prefer the lack of wood in an S1, the wood looks like an add on.

My 2.1 has real wood in it, the TCT I had and the 2.5, also had real wood in it. The very late Exclusives had crappy plastic effect fake wood.
