Robert's Croisette

Evening Folks,

I picked up a CX Croisette this weekend. Its one of the run out special editions based on the 22 TRS. Its a 1989 car, and fortunately is in good condition for her age. She needs a bit of recommissioning after 5 years hibernation. A bit of welding, and a bit of tidying will have another CX saved. Unfortunately the car has been badly resprayed in the past, and the paint looks bad close up. But someone else can deal with that problem, I already have a CX to paint! :D

She has bags of potential, and very worthy of a bit of cash and time investment to keep it going for another few years. A nice accessible starter CX is the plan.

Doesn't look a bad car Robert, and good to see that you've added another CX to your fleet! :D My first CX was actually a Croisette, and after buying it from Roger as a 'project car', it was restored and was sold on to a chap from Ireland. IIRC, it was advertised for sale sometime last year.

The Croisette was a nice model with three 'special' features defining them from the other cars. As you can see the interior is a one-off design, and it does not have a boot moulding - all other Series 2 CXs have a boot moulding. Probably to cover up the rust!  Also, it should have a 5-colour stripe situated just above the side mouldings - obviously where it's been sprayed in the past it has lost them. Funnily enough, when Desi came over to pick that BX up from Dad, I'm pretty sure Dad gave him a load of stripes that we had made up as he had one too. Might be worth speaking to Desi.

I've just managed to dig some of my old pictures out of it -

Also, the 'Croisette' was the only special edition Series 2 CX in the UK! :)

Hi Franklin,

Funny you mention it....

... but they actually came with the car! Desi gave them to the previous owner. I see yours had crap wheel trims too, I thought that the steel wheels look better. I'll stick some GTi alloys that I have in the shed on it.

Amazing!
Yep, it had some rubbish wheel trims on with a Citroen chevron sticker on - this was because it was proving impossible to source the correct trims for it. Low and behold I saw a number crop up once it had gone! The chap that bought it actually bought some alloys from us to go onto it - looked so much nicer:

Even the genuine wheel trims look crap!

Did they all have the boot spoiler? The tailgate on this one is a replacement.

Come to think of it there was a Croisette for sale in Co.Kerry recently.

Yep, they're not the nicest design. Also used on some BX models too.

The boot spoiler is right - correct TRS fitment.

Co.Kerry - that does ring a bell. It had only done about 70K IIRC.

Morning Folks,

I have the Croisette freshly MOTd this morning. It failed first time round on the parking break. A quick adjustment outside the test centre, a re-test, and a pass certificate was issued!

Now to re-home it!
