V6 engine and box out time again (part 2)!

I had another session on the car a few weeks ago now that included removal of the engine and gearbox and separation of the box, which on the whole went fairly smoothly. The main difficulty I had was with the separation as I did not appreciate that the torque convertor had to be released to stay on the box!! I then further stripped the engine that is with my local trusted mechanic awaiting fitment of new head gaskets and meanwhile I am saving up for a full pro recon on the box. Once I have the engine back I shall rebuild that at least and the box will follow in due course when funds allow! Regards, Matthew T.

Love the pic of the engine in the back of another XM! What practical cars!

Nice work Matthew. Like the last pic, casually bung a v6 and engine hoist in the boot!

What is living under the dust cover next to the XM?

Its a neat looking engine! Especially compared to the monster 2.5

The V6 engine is quite an easy fit for a saloon boot especially without the gearbox and dropped off the hoist and slid in nicely on some planks of wood. In reply to Russ the other car under wraps is the rhd 24v! I agree it is a very neat lump Robert with everything stripped off! Regards, Matthew T.

I love seeing pictures like this :D

And who needs an XM estate if a hatch will happily swallow a V6 and crane without fuss! Just brilliant...

I'm guessing both the engine and bay will be shining and squeaky clean very soon Matthew :D

Many thanks Jim and the cleaning of the engine bay is my next task, except the weather has just been too grim lately!! Regards, Matthew T.

I know, I need to do this pipe on mine....simple enough, but the weather is stopping play. Raining today, snow over the weekend with arctic conditions. When will it stop!
