XM drivers window - not working

Hi All
Would like a bit of help diagnosing my non working drivers door mirror (97 XM V6)
The window is half up/half down
The small light on the switch at front is On
Am attempting to diagnose if it's the switch or other electrical before I start on the door panel removal
The switch has 6 pins...left to right voltage readings
Ignition Off
12.6. 0.09. 12.7. 12.7. 0.0 12.7
Ignition On
13.5. 13.1. 13.1. 13.1. 0.03. 13
Switch in up Position
12.7. 13. 12.7. 12.7. 0.02. 12.7
Switch in Down position
12.7. 13. 12.7. 12.7. 0.02. 12.2

Any pointers would be gratefully received
Thanks in advance

You need to refer to the wiring diagrams, as we need to know the pin numbers you have power/Gnd on.

For the drivers door mirror there shouldn't be any power with Ign off.

Grey connector Pins 1,4,6 and permanent Gnd, Pins 2,3,5, are Ign fed power.

Black connector Pins 2,4 and Grey connector Pin 7 flip flop to make the mirror motors move, one direction, or the other.

Gabor's wiring diagrams, for Lhd Series2 Xm. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7592&start=110#p132408

Thanks Dieselman
The mirrors are separate from the door window switch...they are centre console mounted switches
I will continue to test/see what I can come up with
Can't attach a pic of switch
Cheers

I've just re-read the thread title, which says the window, but the thread post says mirror, which is the faulty item?

The window switches are pass through for +12V until one is pressed for operation at which point one +12v is released and one moter feed is shunted to Gnd via the centre pole of the switch.
Take a look at the wiring diagram, it appears complicated, but is actually quite straightforward.

The drivers window has one shot operation, so has a control circuit as well as the switch.

Power is supplied via relay 809, into switch pin 2.
The central rocker switch shunts this power to pins 3/4 for driver controlled up/down function.
For one shot pin 2 connects to pin 1/6 for up/down.

The Gnd for the illumination is Pin 5. Not required for operation.

The control circuit and motor are fed power on the controller unit connector Pin 5 (power) and pin 1 (Gnd). Additional power supplies come in on Pins 9 and 6.

Did the window just stop working, or was other work being done to the car beforehand.

Hi Dieselman
No nothing being done to car...just stopped fully down
Last week I just pushed the switch on the off chance and it went up half way then quit again....nothing since then
Will attempt to investigate further...just want to get it up so I can wash it lol
Thanks
Paul

If you can't power the motor, or it doesn't work once power is applied, with the door open try clapping your hands on the glass while lifting. You might need to wear a rubber glove for additional grip, but the window should gradually come up.
