Hello all...

I'm currently working on another neglected series 1 xm...Its the one that Will kp picked up some time ago. It will look a million times better once Ive finished with it (in about a week i reckon)

The mirrors and scuttle plastic on this car were dull to say the least I decided to try something new to cut down the time to restore them back to black and i was amazed at how much easier this was..and how quick!! that i wanted to share it on here.

The secret formula.....Autosol chrome polish followed up with the Meguiars trim restorer to shine it up. All done by hand in less than 5 minutes with no scrubbing or hard work involved

After a single wipe down with some autosol gently rubbed in

I'd be interested to know how long the Autosol works on the black because it looks good. On my VTS, any trim restorer I tried never lasted past the next wash until I got the Gtechnic C4 (maybe this is why it worked on my car!) this still looks good 2 years later. Unfortunately I don't know where I've put it, I could do with it for the door handles on the XM.

May be that a combination of the Autosol to shift the degraded surface layer followed by a degrease and the C4 is the optimal treatment?

The tiny C4 bottle is an easy (and expensive) pot to lose!

That would be worth trying and if I find my (as you say easy to lose expensive) bottle of C4 in the garage I will try it.

Does anyone know what the C4 actually does, is it any good as a long lasting protection to unfaded plastics, does it replenish lost oils effectively returning the surface to its original state or add a film of long lasting magic on top of faded plastics, my trims are not faded but I want something that will keep them that way. I've always religiously used autoglym bumper care but it is a greasy product in a way and isn't great for stuff like door handles.

I believe it's meant to bond with the surface at molecular level. As I said I used it on my C4 about 2 years ago & it still looks good, nothing else has really worked on some of the plastics used.

Guys to clear up any confusion....the autosol was used as a cutting agent. It wont last or indeed work as a dressing as its a compound
