In my opinion, the design of the pre facelift XM is the best when the car itself is at rest, they still almost look spaceship esque, thanks to the multiple design touches thrown at you, the kinked rear windows is almost a throwback to the coke bottle but with an 80s setsquare edge to it. It does seem to be getting slightly harder to see these phase one cars about, but they have survived a little better than I expected them to.

Lovely car. Like the CX, more estates seem to have survived than saloons.
Although I wouldn't quite agree with that...

Eh!? Estates survived better than saloons...
have to strongly disagree here!
Not a particularly flattering view of the silver estate IMPO!

Silver isn't a particularly good colour for an XM as it doesn't show the lines very well due to lack of shading detail..

Xms need to be in a dark colour. Silver is my least favorite XM colour (hasn't stopped me buying them either!). White Xms can look cool.
That estate looks good, no visible rot to the rear wheel arches.

Strangely silver is my favourite colour for them, it seems to contrast nicely with the black trim - and doesn't show the mud! I always wanted a silver one and I think it was probably the only colour I never had
