I think John would be absolutely delighted to get an auto that did 47mpg on a long run!

Has any other 2.1 auto owner seen such high mpg?

Peter N isn't allowed to comment as he could probably get that out of a mustang gt500!! ;)

Brimming my 2.1 auto and calculating mpg from that, I did 41 on a mix of fast, short, stop start and long journeys. I reckon had it all been motorway cruising I could have got close to 47.

Im nearly sold Charles. Colder weather about now so the ole 124 will drop down to just over thirty. Even with Dieselman's patent bit of cardboard shoved in-front of the radiator.

Do you run the 124's on veg or normal derv?

I'm still surprised a 2.1 auto estate can manage such mpg as well :)

PeterN can get up to 60mpg, but then Nuns on pushbikes keep flashing him.

I haven't refilled from the other week yet, but have so far done 650 miles and have nearly 1/4 tank left. That has included two very spirited runs cross country and I think I will see 45mpg from the tank.
This is a manual car, but I really did drive it flat out.

Tax paid, full fat derv. I really dont see the point of all the faffing (collecting round the back of shady hotels, carrying used oil upstairs from cellars and the like, then the straining with heating (sometimes) then putting petrol into chip fat because its winter. You got me Mr Chancellor - more fool I, perhaps. Oh and the real vegi boys carrying 20L drums of the stuff so they can fill up on a long run with either the use of an electric pump or a hand pump jobbie.

Many atime I have seen fellow 124 and 210 owners up to their arms in gunge whilst removing tank strainers and carrying pre and full fuel filters just in case they have a clogging issue. Oh and all that blowing through with airlines if the fat congeals.

But horses for courses.

I kinda agree with the WVO oil thing, but I could be tempted with a Bosch car to use New Veggie oil in 20l drums from say cost co.. I think it then works out about a 1.10 a litre... and it can go straight in too..

However, for no faff, I drive a HDi 110 Xantia, and they are any OIL Free... IE: Wont use it.

The extra MPG given for me is enough to warrant NO Messing around..
