Fixing the LeD strip

Starting with what we have to work with, note the OEM silver strip)

Mounting, I used high temp Aluminium tape to hold the LeD strip and fed the wires out via the breather tube at the back.

What is that aluminium blanking strip made from, actual aluminium plate, or thinner tape?

If plate, how did you cut it out without damaging the lens?

The sealant used for the glass will be polyurethane, hence it is difficult to cut through.
I'm not sure how much heat the plastic components will stand, but most people do heat such units in an oven, to assist with separation.

Below 100c should be fine, they are mounted near the radiator, so must be exposed to pretty warm temperatures in hot climates.

very thin foil applied during manufacture I think...it seems "printed on"....I removed it by gentle scraping with a sharp pen knife blade, I was not worried by a few marks behind a bright light.

As your photos show the light fitting upside down, the foil stripe is presumanly there to stop the original indicator bulb throwing light excessively upward, reflected off the lower reflector.

Looking forward to seeing how they look on the car.

I apologize for butting in but why am I not seeing any photos? Only "Image" repeated?

Found out it must be a Firefox setting. Images show up in Edge :!:

To see image using Firefox; right click on word "Image" - drop down box appears- select from options. e.g. "open image in new tab".
