Need advice (XM/BX)

Post by Bago » Wed Aug 28, 2013 11:08 am

Hey,
My father's first car was BX. He still owns it, but it hasn't been used for over 15 years (and in that time it was just parked in front of the garage - under rain and sun). It has no engine (since the original one died). Is it worth selling the car for about 100€ to scrapyard?
My father also has an XM (made in 1991 or 1992 I believe), which he owns since it was new. I believe it covered over 300.000km and it's only his 3rd engine (which covered only about 5k km) and 2nd gearbox (covered about 20-30k km). Is it worth parting it out (is there any interest in used engines?) or should we sell he whole car to scrapyard?

Depends largely on condition and model. Are they diesel or petrol?

it's a diesel, 2.2 or 2.1, in very bad shape.

It's a diesel 100%, I was just not sure wether it's 2.1 or 2.2.... When I say in bad shape, I mean that all the lacquer has peeled off, 2 door panels damaged and suspension doesn't work. Otherwise, engine "should" bee in good shape.
How much do you reckon I could sell it for?

Oh, sorry... I missed that question; I'm from Slovenia, that's a small country near Italy.
