Xantia from Gunness

Well, as Truman said in the film, Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!

Recently taken ownership of a 2000 W plated Xantia 2.0 HDi Saloon, in a fetching Green. At the moment she's a lovely low mileage example that was owned by an elderly couple, and was maintained to a very high standard, using main dealer parts throughout.

Serviced every year without fail, more paperwork included in the sale than I can recall ever having in my 60 odd car history.

The main reason for purchase was to save it from the scrap heap after Citroën stopped production of the spares needed to keep her on the road. Requiring little more than an hydraulic hose replacing, I set to work and she runs a treat now.

Should anyone need a power steering repair kit, I now manufacture them,it was impossible finding a company that could supply anything that would fit. Many of them saying they couldn't do the quite simple flare on the kunifer pipe!

Hi Mardy,

Welcome to the forum, the Xant sounds lovely, and very interesting what you say about manufacturing spares for the PAS.

Tell me, what else can you manufacture? You may well get a few willing customers here!

Like The Truman Show reference BTW, haven't seen it in years :)

Out of interest also, was the HDi a 90 or a 110... different gearbox's are used on both, thus DOES also mean theres two different types of PAS feed pipes!

Ive got a GOOD HDi 90 type in stock, but no 110's and im sort of wanting one for a 110 I have not decided what to do with. But Im in no rush, and not gonna pay a lot either.

You might want to post this on frenchcarforum.co.uk for all the Xantia owners to also see..

Gunness is on the River Trent, just west of Scunthorpe.

The Xantia is lovely. Completely original barring the mats and PAS repairs I've made, nothing is "aftermarket". Absolutely brilliant.

After spending an arm and a leg on kitting out my garage come workshop, I can make pretty much anything these days.

That's dangerous talk around here where some XM spares are getting very scarce now..

We'll give you a trade test...

In the style of the Great British Bakeoff...

"Please make us one set of XM Strut Tops. You have three hours..."
