Series one bolts for series one trims yes, and the longer chromed series two bolts for series 2 trims, its because the S1 trims go over the bolt heads so they need to be short, the series two bolts potrude through the S2 trims and so are longer.

I should have the majority of the ones that came off the Onyx here. If you're beat, attack standard bolts with an angle grinder to make the heads the same length. No one will notice, as they're under the trims.

Paul said earlier that he had a good stock of bolts.

I would not advise anyone to do this as you could not guarantee each bolt head being EXACTLY the same length/weight (Similar to the shorter standard PSA type stud-bolts for steel wheels) and thus could possibly cause a slight out of balance to the wheel/hub at higher speed, even though we are fairly close to the center of the hub (i.e. the PCD of the stud-bolts) but if you machined them down on a lathe to make them all exactly the same in length that would be the best method but a lot of effort and time

Best to get the correct shorter length cad-plated ones, loads available in local breaker yards also would be a shame to destroy/ruin a good set of the longer chrome headed MK2 ones especially if someone trying to source a set of those IMHO.

Oh BTW I think the price for your set of MK1 wheel trims is very reasonable if 'ex-em' purchases them and other forum members are after a set I also have a spare set for the same price.

Ill have to do a Bolt Round up, and see what I have..

XMX, I use a miss mash of different length bolts on my Xantia, and Ive NOT noticed any off balance on the wheel, prehaps I sould make them all short ones and see if it DOES smooth out any more..

Mind you, Xantia TD never goes any faster then 80, she uses too much fuel then..

Steel rims use m12 bolts, with a 1.25 pitch thread and a 60º taper shoulder.
With this info if you check ebay/online many sellers will sell you a set of 20
for around 20-30quid. You could even buy 16 and a set of locking bolts if you
want to make things more complicated.



Most new ones offered on ebay use 17mm heads but if you want 19mm you'll
need to be more picky:

For the deeper s2 wheeltrim a longer headed bolt may necessitate using "tuner"
bolts which use a kind of locking bolt key:

The alloy wheels also use m12 bolts, with a 1.25 pitch thread and a
90º square shoulder:

The balance with varying bolts won't be that significant - after all, locking bolts
are different mass/design with standard and locking bolts.

i plan on removing alloy wheels and just using wheel trims i dont like alloys!!!
i hope to be getting a series two but wasnt aware they came with wheel trims!!!

ex-em - are you saying you're planning to get an Xm after buying your choice of wheeltrims!?
