Re: S2 V6 parts
The S1, V6 subframe is different to the rest in so much as it has an additional front mounting for an additional engine torque bush.
I would think the Es9 subframe would be no more difficult to deal with if no S1 V6 subframe is available...assuming the torque bush mounting isn't already on the Es9 subframe.
The only other difference I am aware of is the short upright support inboard of the driveshaft fits on a stud with a nut, rather than bolts on.

Re: S2 V6 parts
The window and RH wing is sold, but the wheel arches are ok (bit rusty where the front bumper attaches).
The wheels are S1 Speedline alloys.
Confirming the car has a sunroof.
If someone out there wants the engine etc, I’ll get the sound deadening and subframe off but if not I’ll be scrapping everything in 2-3 weeks from now.

From what Paul and Will have said it seems the subframe is a non-starter and the arches and 13th window are sorted. As your car does have a sunroof it throws that idea out. Even though the wheels are the same as mine I could still be interested.
I will be in need of a really good quality front subframe, S1 V6 specific of course, but I'm in no rush.

Re: S2 V6 parts
It is my understanding that the subframe variations were all small weld on components rather that major design differences.
So each of the types were made up in batches and stored separately.
Then drawn down as required for the sub assembly line where the engine was fully built up on the subframe.
Fully built up sub-frames were then stored ready for transfer to the main assembly line.
I seem to recall a late 1989 note listing six front subframe variations.
So there must have been a good few more by end of XM production.
This suggests that in a one off situation it should be fairly easy to take any recovered good condition subframe and modify it.
Just needs old and replacement fully stripped and compared.
Then at most a little bit of cutting and welding of brackets.

Re: S2 V6 parts
Ah. Well that could work out ok. I've a couple of ready removed ones if it saves me taking one off a car .. which in my current state for the next year will not be easy anyway.. but then losing a good steering rack isnt my idea of fun either.. I'd be keen to take the rack off..

As you are likely to have to weld a bracket onto any subframe you are offered, I would have thought this one would be a good one to use.Eddie nuff wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:53 amFrom what Paul and Will have said it seems the subframe is a non-starter
The only consideration is condition.
