We have a beko slimline. We paid 25 30 quid for it 8 years ago.. Its still here working as well as ever.. Not a moments bother..

Mumshad two bosch I think which have both leaked at a young age..

You know.. Just had a thought. You could by a used dishwasher.. Plumb it in a shed.. Think they only need cold water.. And drain away somewhere and have it as a dedicated parts washer.

I wonder how well one would wash brake dust off an alloy wheel... 🤔

Careful with the d/w tablets/powder/sachets - they can attack aluminium, as they are highly alkaline de-greasers.

Interestingly, Paul, we were selling a large, fast, double-sided colour printing machine at Agfa (called Chromapress), which worked on the laser/toner principle.
The stainless steel corona units inside needed to be kept very clean, and with the machine (costing around £250k) came . . . a Bosch dishwasher!

Well it's like BMW audi and. Mercedes.. All regarded as very high quality... Which these days is a VERY questionable thing. I don't think they are anymore as so many people have them..

I wondered about 2005 eira w202 c class (think that's the correct W number) but was quite taken back what I learnt about them...

Two things challenged the longevity of ph1 and ph2 C Class mercs... 1: they sold quite well so lost the exclusivity of earlier mercs and hence a lot have been scrapped. 2: They loved to rust. And hence a lot more have been scrapped.

ZERO effect on the Alloy.

Dishwasher detergent is ----"very mildly" alkaline----- it is not "highly alkaline"....if it were so strong as to do what you say under such short term exposure to a lump of cast Aluminium alloy then you would need gloves and PPE to handle it.

Must say, our house is full of Bosch bits (and Siemens too).
Good thing is generally good build and long life, and superb availability of spare parts (with direct ordering from them, direct from their parts diagrams).

Parts for both white goods and green tools seem to remain available for decades.
I have a Bosch mains drill here - green, 2-speed and variable, hammer - carrying the Scintilla (Swiss) mfg label. It belonged to my father, and I'm guessing he bought it in around 1980. It's done lord knows how much HD work, and has only ever needed new brushes. Every part for it still listed as available.

At last count our Bosch list ran to
- that mains drill
- a 24v battery drill
- power planer
- mouse sander
- two angle grinders
- portable circ saw
- electric chainsaw
- dishwasher
- washing machine
- tumble drier (Siemens)
- a fridge=freezer (Siemens)
- ceramic hob (Bosch-Balay, Spain)
- 3 identical vacuum cleaners (don't ask)
- a wet vac

Took years to stop being distracted by lesser 'bargains', though, none of which lasted.
