For an S2 the radio is actually in the wrong din slot. The flap covers the din box only on S2 cars leaving the factory radio continually on display.. Another backward S2 step..

On S2, there's a (sort of) choice of which of the three slots you use for a radio. The upper two are single-DIN, but only the top one has a covering flap. The cubby can be removed from there, and put in the next one down, but most radios in the top one will not allow the flap to close (unless you can unclip the fascia) which is a shame.
The bottom slot is for ashtray/cig.lighter, and covered, and could, maybe (hell, there's a lot of ,,, in this one) get used for a hidden radio.
Middle slot was the OE radio position on ours.

As you say, Paul, a backward step in keeping the valuables covered. :(

Strange, my flap closes just fine and it is a standard single din radio

Perform a pre mot check of all testable items to be sure you don't miss anything and I will be fine.

With the radio being an aftermarket item, does it display the station in the L/h display?

The Radio does not display on the l/h display

Final MoT checks does, all light, wipes, farts and clunks, cannot find anything wrong (but that is the MoT testers job not mine :) )
