The ABS (dark green?) relay controls the ABS dash light. Known to get weathered and misbehave.

Cheers...will look at that.

The most disappointing thing about today was that it was so wet my matches got soaked and I could not light the oily rags I stacked under the car ! ....

:)

Hole-in-one! You've made my evening.

If that one was like that, check out ALL the front-end/slam-panel relays, as all will have been prone to weathering and oxidation. Includes bank of 3 for the fans, and one each for AC, dip-beam, and the Bitron double - and any others that may have been added as extras (eg main beam and starter solenoid).

It seems these three relays are NOT the ABS relay(s) (Fan relays ?)......I am told the ABS relay is deeper down in the same area. I will have to do some digging but based on the condition of these I expect it will be in much the same condition.

I had pulled all ABS fuses as well during the same session so maybe a poor power feed.......or Because = Citroen

Yep...............on the relays....i thought it was one of the green ones (wrong !¬)

I will be checking every one, clean, protect and re-connect.

Have just checked my ABS relay here. It's the same dark green, but as well as the usual 5 pins it has a extra smaller pin in one corner.
Yours could be different.

Where exactly is it mounted?

On Bendix systems it is mounted on the Abs block on the front subframe, right next to the radiator.

On diesels that's not an issue due to their better thermal efficiency, but on the V6-24 petrol it receives a proper cooking due to petrol engines seemingly being designed to convert chemical energy into heat, with motive power just being a by-product...much like an incandescent light bulb creates light by driving a heating element until it glows white hot.

Lack of Abs lamp flickering indicates either lack of power to the Abs Ecu or the relay has failed to switch the power.
The lamp should illuminate then flick off/on twice before staying off, as the Ecu performs it's POST.

This is probably just a sticky relay due to lack of use, or a poor contact.
It is possible pulling the fuse has reset the Ecu.

This is normal stuff when recommissioning a car that has been laid up.
It's better to find this now, rather than at the Mot test.
