Mine doesen't have a sun roof :D but it does have air con. :D

I think the UK models having extras like radio controls was a marketing feature, not safety related. The Company car market is what drives all the freeby add-ons we get in the UK.

My first 2.1TD was in January 1994. Nothing went wrong on that car at all.
