Smashing!
88k 2000reg activas don't come in everyday! and the dark blue is rather nice for a change from the usual "red-what's-the-name?" (which is also lovely!). Yum yum it *is* a beautiful car really, congrats! Is the mnfld gasket doable in situ? or front needs removed?

£1,290 a bit on the steep side for me, though air con a positive.
And if it genuinely was "low miles" then I suspect he would have said what they were in the text, same as his other ads.
Interesting/sad how few Citroen sold of these cars...

George, the flip is it crimson, is it red, or is it orange Delage Red is a very special colour and
one of the nicest of any car I own:

I'm not sure whether the manifold/turbo is remotely accessible from the front so attack from
underneath at the back is the only likely angle of attack. In the dim and distant past I do recall
a real faff about changing a 2.0i Xm manifold but cannot recall if it was a turbo car and it was
a bit nerve wracking worrying about the manifold studs snapping and requiring repair in situ or
worse. I do have a complete spare manifold and turbo though.
TE, my V6 is an R reg and apparently the earlier cars have the bonus of a dipstick for the autobox
whereas the later last don't - takes some of the anxiety out of ownership of one.

Speaking of Xantia Activa's, there's this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0419559610
and speaking of Xantia V6's, there's this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0329027055
although there's a concern about the cold changes although they certainly do work better and are
smoother when warmed up. Apparently, it's advertised elsewhere for £800 - is that the local grocery
shop notice board though!?

Well you just had to andrew!andmcit wrote:Now I really have blown it...
My worry now is why didn't I take the time out and go and see it before I took the plunge;
it could be a real mongrel - especially from the reflections on the offside rear wing! Still,
it WONT be turned into a nasty shopping trolley engine donor!!
Andrew

Good show! Glad to see a LATE one wont be lost! The turbos ON THE REAR, can be accessed from above or below.. ON THE XM's but normally to make things easyer remove the drivers side to gearbox drive shaft, you can take it down then.. On the XM, I got one out from the top, after lowering the engine and removeing the rocker cover to gain a bit more clearence.. Ive no idea how easy on the Xantia it is though...
RE: V6, Ill check mine and see if theres a dip stick...

Re: Xantia Activa £1 starting price
I'm looking forward to seeing the car. May need to ask you some questions about the turbo
and manifold Paul.
The s1 will be ok. My facelifted s2 v6 has the dipstick but from what I've read and seen in
a service supplement it became a fully sealed unit with a far faffier means of fluid renewal.

So. One less then as it'll be scrapped for the engine transplant into a Peugeot 106. Sad too as it
was a green one and the seller was even chucking the new brake parts in with the deal...

A motor dealer has bought it, does this prmise the dimise?
Or would this "motor dealer" know what the car is and how special?

Re: Xantia Activa £1 starting price
I woulsn't read anything into the Motors Dealer. In fact I'd suggest it's WHM who aren't that far away
who know they can sell the engine for £400 - or more judging by the prices they charge for parts
off broken cars they auction on ebay...
So. Is that v6 going to sell for £112 too! I'm now all spent up!!
