WANTED 2.1TD S2 clutch cable

I remember Jorgy's problem now.

I have a TCT cable, would it not fit? They list different part numbers on service Citroen, but how different could it be? It will be the same at the pedal end, and surely much the same for the gearbox end.

The cables for the BE3 and ME5T gearboxes are different due to the length of main cable.

For Campbells problem a simple bent piece of steel will do the job.

I haven't explored the actual fault properly but I reckon it is the end part of the cable - trying to sort the BX's intermittent non start problem. It's currently my only working car (can't count the wife's one)!

If I explore manufacturing new cables for the 2.1, would people be prepared to buy them?

I still have the my old busted one, the pivot part is busted but the rest of it is OK, so you're welcome to it if you'd like to make a good one from the two you'd have

I have a pivot courtesy of Colin - that'd be greatly appreciated. I changed working hours and finish at 3 now so have some time in the afternoon each day to explore remanufacture, which strikes me as a sensible thing to do.

Following on with this thread. I have compared the TCT cable with a 2.1 cable that I have. The clutch pedal end is the same on both as to be expected. Gearbox end it also appeared to be the same. The main difference was that the TCT cable was longer between the pivot and the cable end than the 2.1 cable.

I think that a TCT or any longer cable could be fitted to a 2.1 and the 2.1 cable to be too short to use on anything else.

If anyone has any other experiences or thoughts, I'd like to hear them. I hope I never need a clutch cable for any of my 2.1 Manuals, but feel the TCT cable could be used if necessary.

Also what are the main external differences between the ME and BE boxes?

IIRC, the BE boxes are physically smaller and the gear linkages are different.

Didn't jorgy have a problem where they were trying to connect the wrong cable to his 2.1 and it wouldn't work.

Missus just phoned me. She thinks the clutch cable on my 2.1 SED has gone. Reading the couple of posts about the cables here, it seems they are no longer available.

Any ideas where I might get one, or is it the last rites for the XM?

Also, any suggestions how I might get a clutch-less XM home 10 miles and up a steep drive?

Clutchless gear changes. With the car stopped, engine off, stick it in first, crank the starter, bit of throttle and that will have you moving!

Have used that technique a few times myself, not on an XM though.
