I'm so glad I didn't go through with my threat and offload the XM :-D I needed to go to the optician and pick up my new glasses and today I'm full of myalgic aches and pains  I really didn't fancy taking the Activa and having to change gear manually and operate a clutch so I took the XM and for one in huge discomfort it's just bloody magical :-D

I filled her with LPG and really upset a Paxo owner who couldn't understand why I didn't pull forward to the vacant pumps beyond the LPG one. He beeped his horn and waved his arms and looked ferocious. When I got out and explained I would be using the LPG pump he was so apologetic  Once at the pump and again at the pay desk!

I just can't wait for all the little issues to be sorted on the XM. It really is a car for me so tanks to all who stepped in and saved me :-D

Wherever I park the XM it gets noticed 8-)

XM to the rescue. There you go... the old autobox comes into it's own. Hope you feel better soon Jim... and glad you have decided to keep her.

Am I ever a happy bunny this evening :D

I have a working speedo :D :D :D

And an instrument panel with a full complement of working bulbs :)

Rock steady and not a tick to be heard...

I absolutely hated not having a working one...

Happy days...

I'm really getting to love this XM...

Very wise words Dean  I learned that early in my Activa days...

It's Ok, I've only said it on here and I've banned all my cars from the forums ;)

Wouldn't dream of saying any such thing in their earshot :D

Having said that, I bet all Citroens, especially XMs, have a heck of a vocabulary of foul language. They hear enough of it

So true Jim. Glad you have a speedo that now works. I just wish mine would do the same. How easy was it?

I like your idea Dean, might try that with mine....then it might behave!

It was a complete ball-ache on account of the rubber ball on the end of the cable Russ. Honestly, it was the most horrific job imaginable

Well worth it though, the cable Andrew supplied works beautifully. The speedo is rock-steady.

Excellent day today :-D Between them, Chris (Citroenmad) and Chris (570) fixed the rear bumper mounts, changed the ATF, which was really filthy and mucky, changed the LHM, bled the brakes, fixed the exhaust blow and as a finale Chris completed the machine polishing. What a difference a good machine polish makes, it's incredible :-D

Huge and many thanks to both Chris's for their very sterling work today =D> =D> :-D
