I see changing an XM speedo cable as a rite of passage...

Noticed with new LHM how long she stays up before sinking now. Definitely a lot, lot longer...

We refilled with some Delphi LHM bought from the usual source at CXM. We were all intrigued to note it's not very green at all. In fact, pouring it in it looks almost clear. Nothing like the neon green of Total stuff.

It smells like LHM though...

Following Chris's fine work with the machine polisher yesterday I gave the Mobility Scooter a quick wash to remove the polishing compound that looked like she'd been in a snowstorm  and then a good rub down with a chamois leather.

She's lookin' good and here she is about two hours after last running and still up at normal ride height :-D

Image

Not the best photo but...

Interestingly, she was down on her belly this morning but took very little time to rise up to normal ride height :)

That practically clear Delphi LHM must be some good tackle :)

The interior leather has also received a quick snack today, not a good feed, just a wipe down with a handful of leather wipes. When I can I'll feed it proplerly...

Wow. Brilliant work guys. Jim send them my way. I need help!! :D
The scooter is looking in fine fettle now. Well done.

Won't be doing the speedo cable just yet then Jim, if it's that difficult. The red mist might just take over!....however you think that's difficult, you should try doing my discs.
Never known such a straight forward job to go so pear shaped. Still not done. New problem in my thread!

Thanks Russ :D

I think, in hindsight, we made the speedo cable more difficult that it could be due to inexperience. I learned a lot about the job and I'll be more than happy to share it as soon as you need it and I think for you it'll be a much smoother ride ;)

The secret is to take out the glove box...

I've posted in your brake thread...

Good work there Jim, she will be back to sinking as per the usual once the air is all out and the system settles down in a week or so.
Glad your bonding well with the old girl anyway.

You can do the speedo cable sans glovebox removal, just pull it into the engine bay and then using string pull the new one back through to the speedo head.

I was reliably informed that all LHM is made by Total and dyed and distributed accordingly by the different distributors.
