True Chris, however I'd probably still be looking for one now! The 1.6 HDi Loeb's are few and far between and due to them normally being the facelift models command a higher price...

I also wouldn't be too keen on the 1.6 HDi what with it's track record especially if it's service history was suspect. This Fiesta although a 1.6 TDCi has a good regular service history so should be fine...

In some ways I do prefer the petrol 1.6 16v though...

There are ways around the 1.6HDi turbo problems, mainly as you say to keep them serviced but also to remove the filter gauge which is in the turbo oil feed pipes. Sadly if this is left when a replacement turbo is fitted it soon has the same problem, as my cousin found out on her 407.

Oooerrrr Chris.. better do that on my sisters c4 while its going ok..

where's the feed pipe located? on the front below the turbo??

As for Sci reno.. i know they are twitchy .. apparently its the use of semi synthetic oil used instead of fully synthetic which is important.. the oil seals give way when semi is used.. i know these early sci units would not touch 225k on all original a shame really.. they are nice cars and 6 speed too...

The Garrett turbo's o the 1.9 dci had an issue with early seal failure, but there was a modified bearing and seal fitted to later ones. If the turbo is making a rattling noise or there is blue smoke, change the turbo or bearings soonest.

Im fully aware of all this.. Would you think someone who does as much as me would jump in without research? id assume if one has had a replacement turbo it would be a newer modified one then which would not fail again....

Im not sure on the pipe location Paul, I've avoided 1.6HDis so far.

As much as I can see the appeal of the LagunaII, they do drive well as does the engine when it works. Its 6 speed but there are nicer to use gearboxes in my opinion. There are better cars about, I would consider something else really. Even a Mondeo, and I dont much like the TDCi either  Mind, injectors and a DMF are the most trouble there.

Shame you have not taken to the original C5, as the early HDis go for peanuts now. Would make sense since you already have a lot of parts for the 8v HDi. Very good tow cars ... bigger than a Xant too
