That is a given Jason!

The XM used in All About George appears to be a 2.5. It is definitaly a Diesel....And is indeed dark green, with velour. But it has a mk1 grill. Got wobbly webs too. Number plate is X293 CCD.

In the first episode, it features quite a bit. Even overhead shots of it whilst driving. Nice example, wonder if it is still going.

I have thought of more XM tv appearances. This time they are French cars. A couple if not more, feature in Bergerac in about 1991. There is a great car chase with a grey one against a white pug 309. The XM was the baddies car.
A 2CV, R4 van, a black DS Pallas feature in this episode too as well as extensive talk about a White Citroen Safari...mever seen. Which makes no sense as estates were known as Breaks or Familiales in France.

The other one is a basic Diesel, without the rear spoiler. That one is Silver. I actually have them on DVD...sad I know :? ...wish I knew how to extract the relevant bits.

The only other one I know of but not really seen, is a silver or grey one in Taggart.

Don't worry Russ, I have them all (Bergerac) on DVD too- you're not alone! 8-) I'll need to check them again, haven't watched them for a couple of years now.

Aha!!! A fellow saddo!

I don't mind them. At least they are good for car spying in an 80's sort of way..... not to mention the Triumph roadster of course oh and the yellow Dyane 6 in series one.

The XM ones are season 8 and 9. Entente Cordiale and there is another. Need to look at the box can't remember!

Yes, I am going to have to watch them now!

I do like looking at all of the old cars in Bergerac- was never keen on the Triumph Roadster myself, oddly enough. Neither was John Nettles apparently.

I'm a great Touch of Frost and Morse fan...I have many DVDs...

I'm sure in an early Frost there's a red Pug 205GTi. I noted it very carefully as when I first watched it I owned an identical one...

Shame Frost has a scruffy old Volvo and not something more appealing but the episodes are old enough now to have a lot of general classic car interest in them..

Think I may watch an old Frost this evening. There's precious little on the telly worth watching unless Casualty is going to have an XM in it..

I see The Sweeny is on over on ITV4 and that's always a classic car fest but I can't stand all the adverts so it will go unwatched... Frost it will be...

Jim, I keep meaning to get into Morse.....I think I'm about old enough now!

I did notice in Holby City (which I don't watch) that the guy parked up his XM and then buried his face in the steering wheel with the horn on.
Was this a succinct comment on the a life of XM ownership? ;)

Also is there something I don't know about late S2 XM (ie the horn is operated by the steering wheel centre)- or as I suspect is more likely, some dramatic licence was involved in that scene?

I know what you mean about the ads Jim. I can remember the "old days" of 2 breaks per hour. TV is terrible with the multiple breaks now.

   So right Rohan!

Some licence was required as right to the end XM horns were operated by a button on the end of the indicator stalk... It was only the Xantia that moved it to the airbag in S2 form - something that still confuses and irritates me to this day... Every time I want to sound the horn in my V6 Xantia I end up going for a non-existent stalk button
