Good work, lucky you got that drop link off in one piece, I never managed without the angle grinder. Don't know about series 1 warning lights, sorry. Wouldn't be surprised if it's normal.

I know, it was lucky but I had a hunch at the beginning that I should try and save at least one of them...
As for the lights, it's a series 1.5 with quite a late RP number so might have a few peculiarities?

Re: My 1993 XM 2.1 SD Auto L322 VCV
Was working on the Xm today - well say 'working' but not really much doing - fitted the second anti roll bar link with one that fits (still had to grind two flats on the upper boss though) and replaced the battery terminals. I still wonder about the suspension though.
It certainly works in both modes and is quite soft overall but at times it seems to stick in firm mode for longer than I'd have though necessary to effect good handling. I tuned the radio to LW and listened for the 'EEEEE' sound of the solenoids and note that the one thing that seems to affect the switching most is the accelerator movement. It takes very little to see it switch to firm. It then seems to stay in firm for quite a few seconds before it cuts back to soft with the tone returning and at times a noticeable jump at the rear. I thought the thing was meant to stay in soft until over 30kph or something but the firm mode seems to kick in with throttle movements at low speeds. Also the yellow light fails to flash on start up so this might indicate a fault with the ECU.
Question: does anyone have a diagnostic fault code reader-resetter in the Glasgow area I could have plugged in to it? Or maybe at a rally this summer?
I have all new spheres on the front and the rear center. The rear is very soft in soft mode - the front just 'soft'. When it switches back to firm after all doors etc closed, it is very firm at the front. The front corner spheres are new IFSH items and had the code XM 50 FP. These are the ones that AEP looked up for my car (2.1 TD) The two sphere tables I have show conflicting info about what the car should have as corner spheres one stating: 450cc/ 50bar/ 0.8mm damper hole while the other states: 400cc/ 50bar/ 0.6mm damper hole. Both name each as the same for 2.1, 2.5 and V6. Both show different reference numbers. One table says the 2.0l model had a different corner sphere of 400/55/0.7 and a different centre with 75 bar not 70. Looking at the corner soheres I have fitted, they are small, so 400cc, state 50 on them so my guess is they're 50bar but looking at the damper hole it is absolutely tiny - too small to accurately measure without a bore gauge but to me looks like it's about as small as they'd come. So is it a tiny 0.6-0.7 I wonder..
I wouldn't mind the overly firm corner spheres if the firm mode wasn't selected so readily -even in normal suspension mode- with accelerator movements. It'll sometimes select firm on a straight but bumpy road due to one bit of throttle movement - not fast or large a movement. It's not so much that it responds to it but how long is seems to stay in firm..
I am stuck without eliminating the ECU or maybe the throttle sensor.
Or is this normal behavior?

As your car is a Hydractive 2 car, from RP5928, it should have 450cc 0.8mm spheres and a 450cc centre sphere. If before then it should be 400cc * 0.6mm corners and 500cc centre sphere.

Graeme, I'll be at most rallies this year with my brace of ELITs. One for early cars with two pin diagnostic connectors and the other for 30 pin diagnostic sockets...

Few steps closer to sorting out the horrible bent wheel rim problems - replacing the 'Exclusive' wheels with the 'jellyfish' type

Things were going well until the jack collapsed...

Erk, thankfully, I was at home so used a trolley jack to change the other wheels.
Hope to get new tyres tomorrow..
