Re: 'J' plate SD saloon available!!
subframe body mounts: Do you mean the rubber block type things that sit between the sub-frame & the body...or the body bits themselves? The body bits I thought were okay ...apart from the facing plates into the wheel arch. Upon closer examination, the forward most piece is seriously corroded & lifting. Either way, I can't see me removing the subframe now - i'll just try & recover the hydraulic components.
Body Panels: Wings need repair sections welded in to make good the lower 1" section. Bonnet good, tailgate good - spoiler scratched, passenger front door has a small scrape/ding - I think others are okay. All the paintwork has a 'faintly scratched' look to it. It did come up nice when wet and when I spent some time polishing it in my initial enthusiastic efforts to convince the wife it was not the heap that she claimed!

Those images just fill me with dread! I think it's definitely a parts car only....good decision.

Re: 'J' plate SD saloon available!!
Gosh Steve those photos are a bit shocking and I can hardly believe it is the same car. The sills and rear subframe are certainly much worse than I thought and I now feel rather guilty about assisting you with the acquisition! I remember there was some damage to the sills and surface rust on the subframe, but the car was also quite dirty so some rust might have been hiding underneath perhaps? It is surprising that it is so far gone given there was no use in the last five years and garage storage, but then the milage was quite high at 165K. I wonder if she might have been on the coast for a while? Anyway I am glad you did not pay too much and should hopefully get your money back on scrappage, plus any spares you manage to sell and use on the other car. It was interesting to hear about the further purchase and project and I hope to meet you and hear more at CXM. With regards, Matthew T.
