Re: XM V6 12V Exclusive
Bought some return hoses over a week ago and I still haven't got round to fitting it....
When driving the car on the motorway it has a bit of wheel wobble at 70mph+ so i thought it will just need wheel balancing. Should be simple.
I took it to a few tyre shops to get it done and they couldn't do it because the wheel doesn't fit on the machine.

Another problem my xm has had since I bought it nearly a year ago is the suspension is intermittently hard especially under heavy acceleration. I have fitted an e crofting box to the ecu wiring but it seems to have had no effect. The sport light doesn't come on either when starting the engine so I suspect there might be a fault with the ecu. Does anyone know if theres a way to test the ecu?

ATS are the only chain with the balancing tool held at branches.
Read the ECU with a Lexia and reset.

Re: XM V6 12V Exclusive
Thanks John, I was getting a bit annoyed driving around and none of the shops have the adapter.
I took it to ATS today and got the fronts balanced and took it for a drivie around after but it still has wheel wobble at speed.
Will have to check the bearings, ball joints next to see if there's anything wrong there. Hopefully it won't be ball joints having read another thread on here it doesn't look like a pleasant job to do.

Re: XM V6 12V Exclusive
Ball joints give a knocking sound , I never experienced a wheel wobble with bad ball joints not saying that is impossible. It's a good idea to carefully check that tyre, it's not the youngest I think. Look at the sides of the tyre especially and as an example: I once had a wheel wobble and did not spot what was wrong with the tyre until it got worse and visable to me.

Re: XM V6 12V Exclusive
I have the same monty carlo alloys and quick fit balanced mine and i now have a wobble at around 70 mph which i didn't have with the steel wheels but as i don't often do 70+ its not a problem,

Re: XM V6 12V Exclusive
On the xantia v6 with similar centerless alloys (but 4 stud), I usually had to take them back for a second go at balancing. i think that the problem is that the wheels do not naturally center themselves correctly on the adapter on the balance machine.
I also had a couple of tyres go out of round, causing the same symptoms.
Now I have to find someone local (in burgundy) who can' balance Dunlop center lock wheels for the e-type
