SERIES TWO V6 24v Auto OWNERS...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Thing with a bespoke system is that it can be made as quiet or as loud as you like really. Depends how the mufflers are constructed :)

Stainless systems will always resonate more due to the metal being less absorbent of sound.

Many are noisy. Some even shriek at full throttle. If you are looking for a stainless system, you MUST take at look at these people, in Nottingham:
http://www.pdgough.com/
They manufacture in heavy gauge stainless, many downpipes with double skins, and produce quiet and magnificent systems. I've had four of them - three Rover P6, and a Triumph Dolomite 1850. On the V8 Rover 3500S, two other manufacturers' systems were returned unacceptable (tinny, noisy), the second outfit finally coming up with a Gough system, bought in to keep me quiet. They sound original (or better) and are built superbly. Many Classic Car owners shop nowhere else.

The eBay XM system is located in Nottingham - coincidence?

Who knows. I got mine(non xm) done by BlueFlame and it was just as I wanted it after about 10mins to swap out the back box to get it just right on tickover and the right noise at full boost :)

I wouldn't chose to use P D Gough. I rang them and went to see them for a link pipe for another car. While there the job description seemed to get massively difficult and the price doubled to £400...for a pipe with two bends in.

I went to Mr Tyre and got it done while I waited for £100.

Might be the same person. One thing in common seems to be they seem to be both very generous on pricing. If you look at the the other items the ebay seller is offering there's some eye-wateringly expensive stuff there and oddly a far more complex looking system for an SM is only £800 and an even more tricky looking system for a DS is an absolute snip at £650.

I wonder if he has the decimal points in the wrong place...

It looks like is Goughs, I've just checked the address. Both are Common Lane, Watnall, NG16 1HD. There is only one exhaust manufacturer on common lane from what I know.
The pictures in the gallery are definitely Gough's workshop.
