Hopefully by the time I've finished it will be cosmetically ok. What I'd really like to do is to get a Vince, or preferably, the Vince to work his magic on the paint which has all the scars of its age. The bonnet has a couple of bad patches, one without any paint, so that may go in for a blowover.

I'm going to shampoo the interior with professional upholstery cleaner, and after vacuuming up the surplus water, leave to dry with my dehumidifier on when I go to Holland to drop off my SM.

Let's just say the bonnet and the boot are best left shut for the time being - the engine bay will need a fair amount of work, starting with the spiders!

This car gives me immense pleasure to drive. At the rate I'm going I'll need to up the mileage limit on my insurance policy!

Took it up to Classic Car Project Shop for the waxoyling, removal of towbar, indicator sorting and to get some Bridgestone all season tyres on it. I borrowed my own Merc Cosworth back (they are selling it for me) and the ride difference is immense, and I liked the ride on the 190!

If anyone wants the discards let me know asap - otherwise they'll go in the recycling (priority to Paul if he wants them back). The tyres are ok, but I don't like different tread patterns, I could feel it in the cornering.

Given all the cars you own and have owned, that's some statement. Where is Trapperjohn when you need him... LOL :D

I think he's still interested but sorting his W124 completely first (it has taken some time!).

Driving my Cosworth today reminded me why I really love it. You sit on a really comfortable seat, with a good view all round, the ride is just sublimely good (up there with my SM, which is the first XM where I can say that), and in Diesel form it gives me exceptional economy (over 490 miles on just over half a tank).

I drove a Bentley last week and I can safely say I know where I'd rather be.

My only worry - what could ever top this car for comfort?

Richard - I'd planned to keep it for myself, but the garage told me it was badly corroded, so I fear it's gone into their scrap bin - I can check tomorrow if it's still ok, but Simeon there was emphatic it wasn't worth keeping.
