Seems fairly obvious. The alarm's never on as it is way too sensitive, but it is always double-locked so the deadlocks are on. There is never anything on show in the car to tempt the poor little lambs.

I blame the security guard. The next door neighbour's on holiday - she misses nothing. ;)

I had a couple of hours spare today so went for a play. There's no test on her at the moment, she should have been tested at the end of November but due to work I've deliberately left it until the new year. I want her tested so she can go back on the road for April, so time to have a look. The only obvious bits are that the NSF fog light has blown the bulb, the washers work but need the two rubbers to sit the nozzles on the lattice and the wiper switch is temperamental. The rear brakes are a worry but I'll check them later when I get chance to strip them down.

Minor worries are the auto doesn't work on the heater but the 4 speeds work fine except it has developed a whine which may just be down to lack of use, one of the bonnet catches is just not grabbing right and the LED reader on the right side is dull.

For the Auto heater, ensure the engine is getting to temperature quickly. If there isn't much differential between the cabin and engine temperatures, the system will stay on minimum fan speed.

LCD display will be the bulbs.

Rear brakes, probably just want pushing back and bleeding.

Front fog lamps are not testable items.

I had the car running for at least half an hour, to make sure the fans came on. The heaters are red hot but the auto doesn't work at all. I think it's more an electrical issue. No real problem, I can wait until one of the rallies for some kind sole to put their electrical thingywatsit on it.

I know that very little braking is actually done by the rears but the rear brakes just don't feel as assured as my Xantia. It's not a fair comparison as the Xantia had new discs and pads fitted all round in 2012 so I just need to check them. It may just be pads - we'll see.

Checking through the history the front spheres were fitted new in 2010 but there's no mention anywhere of the rears being done. The car rides well but I think best to get them checked to see what condition they are in.

I've had very little chance to do owt at all to Goldie over the past couple of weeks, too much work and not enough play. Add in the fact I always decorate the house from top to bottom during the dark months and therefore the first full weekend I've had off has been spent glossing. But it's done, complete house in two days, very nice, should give me a chance to finish it off in two goes over the next week or two. 8-)

Did have a hour off to check M'Ladys Saab over as it goes in for the test tomorrow. Should pass, but you never know.

It's Goldie's birthday today, she's 24 and looking very well for an old girl. Registered on the 30 Jan 1990 just 43 days after rolling off the production line.

It does look good for a 24 year old car.

Good stuff Neil, I like your car...nice and original and straight ;)

I picked up a couple more pieces for mine today to get it MOT ready,,,,back box, clamp and rubber hangers. Just need the sealing ring gasket which we didn't have in stock.

Even once MOT ready though, I cant afford the tax and insurance yet :|
