Hmmm. WELL DONE Mathew. did I mention the Rotor arm? No, not cleaning it, that would of passed me too, did you try removing a plug, putting it in a HT lead and resting it on the rocker cover to check for a spark originally??

There was a spark on the plugs which I checked and rechecked individually in the manner you suggested Paul. I must admit the spark did not look that impressive and must have been insufficient to create ignition. The rotor arm inner contact cannot be seen or even easily cleaned without removal and as the part was virtually new I assumed it would be okay! Many thanks again for your earlier suggestions. Cant Drive an LHD, the gear stick is in the wrong hand and I have serious issues trying to co-ordinate my right hand on the gear lever....
If I want DIVARI, Ill get a CX, and the wheel is on the correct side then too..
To be honest, Ive never had Divari, and you know what they say, what you dont have you wont miss.
Its only SM, CX and LHD S1 XM that have it. S2 XM IIRC dont have it..

Driving an LHD car is fine. Diravi to me is the one thing missing from a RHD XM that would make it a really good drivers' car.

If you can manage it thats fine, but my little brain and hand control cant deal with it...
DIVARI couldn;t make it to the RHD XM's, as PSA's engines were of a "Leaning Back" design theres no room behind the engines on RHD cars to fit the DIVARI unit...

It does feel very odd at first Paul I grant you that, as with your position on the road, but you really soon adapt and it becomes second nature. Even switching between is not a problem and my wife is also very happy with lhd. The other attraction for me is that being French the car was conceived in that form and it is also extra quirky and different! As you state, Diravi was only on S1 cars that makes it even rare and more exotic, whereas most (or all?) CX were so equipped!! CX engine was Citroens OWN range of engines, and were all leaning forward towards the front of the long engine bay.. (The 2.0 and 2.2 was the Douvrin OHC engines also found in Pug 505s and Renault 20 and 25s etc) but was still an upright engine.
