Rheostat for dash lights - wanted

On S1 cars the gauges are always illuminated with the ignition and the rest of the dash lights come on with the sidelights — this is how it works on my S1. I believe on S2 cars this was changed so all dash & gauge illumination comes on with the sidelights only.

There certainly seems to be some variations in experience. I shall be interested to see what mine decide to do today.

S1 cars always have the dash lights on when the ignition is on. This once caused me to drive at night without any lights on...Oops.
