Parts required please

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

As Paul said, the lower wing clip is just a tight U clip. A local fixings supplier should have some.

I would be interested to see a photo of either an original or a suitable replacement clip as I do not think any of my car wings are still fixed by this method! Regards, Matthew T.

If you can drill a small hole in the front jacking point a screw should suffice to hold the wing in that location.
My car wings have generally been fixed in this way Dean and the problem with the clips is that they rust and disappear! Regards, Matthew T.

I will make up some stainless ones and then dust the lower sills with stonechip again to blend them in.
Im sure a screw works better than the original idea of the clip as a fixing but i suffer with an extream perforation fobia, i just dont like the idea of drilling through 3 layers of spot welded steel in a known rust area.

Hi Dean

Found a pair of jacking point covers this evening when I was the wiring tool kit out of the attic.

The fixing I use is to the jacking point Dean rather than the sill, which only involves one thickness of metal, albeit rather sturdy metal! The original clip also secures the lower wing flange in the same location. With regards, Matthew T.

This may explain why that part of my front wings seem loose! It's due another wash this weekend so I'll tackle it then.

I used a blob of seam sealer to 'glue' the lower wing to the sill. Stopt it flapping, won't rust and can be cut out with a knive when required.
