Wanted 2.1 timing belt tensioner allen bolt
I've just had a rather frustrating hours trying to replace my leaking water pump. As those who have been in there before will know, in order to release the tensioner one has to loosen the nut in the centre of the tensioner wheel and an allen bolt which lives in an inaccessable recess in the upper engine mount casting. Unfortunately the last person to replace the timing belt had overtightened this bolt and partly rounded it in the process so predictably when I tried to loosen it all I did was complete the rounding process.
The only way I can think of repairing this is to limp the car up to my parents in Durham and use fathers welder to weld a nut onto the rounded allen bolt after having removed the engine mounting casting. Although access is poor I think there is a reasonable chance of sucess.
Obviously the allen bolt thing will be further destroyed in the process so I hope someone may have a spare?
Bloody frustrating day, I was really hoping to get the XM back on the road today as the Saab's prodigious thirst is financially crippling using it everyday! I might have to start using one of my MZ's for work! My first thought was of getting rid of the XM, particularly as some bastard ran into it while parked the other week creasing two of the doors badly. It deserves another chance though, particularly as I've already gone to the trouble of saving it once, plus I've bought a new water pump and timing belt now!

If you could check that would be wonderful. You remember right, it is a 5mm allen head, I guess I just need to know the length.

I think that makes it a 6mm threaded bolt 100 mm long excluding the cheese head.
The 55mm will be either the length of plain shank or the length of shank threaded.
Likely to come with either Allen or Torx insert in the head.
