I disagree Really John, nothing can beat having the actual item to use!
Im HAPPY to lend a complete assey for copy reasons, but will only lend to someone who will return the item back to me..

Re: Vince's xm - IT LIVES! WITH A FRESH MOT
I spoke to a couple of cable manufacturers and they both agreed they could remake the original cable but they would need to use some of the original parts as they aren't available.
Myself and Will kp discussed a scheme where "an old cable" would be sent for remanufacture then fitted to someone else's car. Then, that car's original replaced cable becomes the next old one to be rebuilt starting a cycle of replacement with all newly remanufactured cables for anyone who wanted one....The snag is there needs to be a first cable not required / donated to start the remanufacture process off. Then of course there is the challenge of any variances of cable on different vehicles....
I really think that as "a club of sorts" we need to get a move on with having some of these hard to source items made to keep members on the road. Most other car clubs already have difficult to source items remade when they become scarce.
I will happily volunteer where i can to help

Re: Vince's xm
Well today saw me finally fitting some more of the lock set that i bought off John sooo long ago now
After a tip from Paul i fitted the front drivers side lock barrel in less than 10 mins
I then figured, why not fit the boot lock aswell whilst i had the screwdrivers out...So that was done too
Tomorrow ive got an early start over to Pauls in Anglesey to pick up a rear inner screen and upper hinge bracket trim. I like to keep cars standard trim like, but i have american rellies coming over for christmas..they have never been in an xm but have seen it parked up the times they have been over and love the way it looks...now they get to ride in it and i want it to do the model proud
The inner rear screen will be a talking point no doubt....
I cant wait for their reactions when they get into the back...the leg room for one and the cloud soft seats

Hi Vince
I had forgotten about the lock set, what did I supply.
I can remember the set of rigid floor mats, how have they worked out.
It was the clearance batch of new pipe fittings that you obtained for me that made my day out so worthwhile.
So good of you to take the trouble to track the parts down.
Such a shame when Rocking Horse Poo sits on branch shelves until a stock check has it skipped.

Re: Vince's xm
Is a clutch cable easily dismantled on a wreck? Probably not otherwise I'd volunteer to get one out of a lonely wreck which I can't move.

Re: Vince's xm
I am aware of a large stash of 2.1 manuals with currently working clutch cables which could be used for the greater good but the owner may well not be too happy about there removal unless taking a whole car.

Hi Mike
Dean is located on the IOW and I suspect these are the Ventnor stash.
If so you need to factor in transport costs back to the mainland.
