So. Who wants a single spoke steering wheel!?

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I remember the red badges on the steering wheels of some Citroens too. Ive seen some Xms with them too. Always thought that was a nice neat design, no idea why  I also like the little red badge on the normal style Xm key, small odd things to notice perhaps....

My BXs had red badges, my series 1 XM has a red badge, although most have black badges. Our first Xantia had a black badge on it, then we lost the nice badge with the introduction of airbags, and it came back again with the series 2 xantias or xsaras if they had it first.

More sado-ness, series 1 XM key plips look cooler than series 2 plips! Becuase of the wee red badge for the button!

Yes i like the S1 keys Robert, though ive not seen one which looks tidy in years. Usually cars which came to us for servicing etc always had a plip with no blade and a key to start the car. Do they fall to pieces easliy?

The red badge looks good on your Xms wheel, i also really like that seat material too, very cosey looking!

Very odd things we notice isnt it.

The red badge Robert pictures in his S1 is the very same enamelled jobby that saw prime position
on the s2 CX steering wheel. Much prefer it to the black ones although you're right to say these are
still far nicer than the crude 3D moulded relief in a later Xm/Xant airbag.

The s1 key blades tend to snap out of the plastic base through which the rivet pivots on and their
plastic coating on the red button splits and wears off.

Yay, we're being true Citroen anorak petrolheads talking about colours of steering wheel badges!

Hi robert ,
Just noticed on the photo that your S1 doesn't seem to have a front door speaker grill, was that normal for S1's ?
As the the only S1 I had for 2/3 months which was too-slow with a slugoooomatic gearbox had to go !
Which I sold many years ago so I can't remember ?
BTW the BLACK badges were introduced when a Citroen/big shot gaffer died and then maybe they went back to red after a few years if I'm correct ?
Best Regards

It does have a speaker grille, it must be the way light has fallen on it.

Speaking of Citroen deaths and XM, Xavier Karcher Chief of Citroen during the XMs development and most of its commercial life has recently died at 77.

Must say I'd only ever read somewhere that an original red badge was changed to red as a mark of respect with
the one embossed and positioned on the front top apex of the Rolls Royce radiator grille after Charles Royce died.
Would be a bit sad if Citroen were simply copying Rolls Royce and remember in the 90's Citroen was only looking
forward and wouldn't admit to anything in its past (recent or otherwise). It's taken them a few years now but you
can't move without seeing a Traction and DS featured in their publicity, even before their 90 years birthday.
