Selling off one (or bits

) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

David.
No way David, u won't like it. The absolute power of a 12v V6 PRV is greater, to start with (not critically though), but, most important, u will feel a huge difference in terms of turbo lag -responsiveness. No comparison, trust me -I drove dj's 2.5, he drove mine also and was impressed by how "sporty" the PRV was (!).
cheers

Hi David
I am surprised at the extent of Georges negative comments. These seem to be based on a single drive.
Mine are based on over ten years XM ownership mainly 2.5's but over a period of four of those years
I ran V6-12v autos. I ran the two types of XM together for some time. I saw bigger variation in performance
from engine condition than between 2.5 and V6. My main reason for ending back with 2.5's was simply that
some good exclusive 2.5 cars became available and on my high annual mileage the reduced fuel cost of the
more economic diesel covers the entire car purchase cost inside two years.
I only suggested the 2.5 as a possible stop gap as they are currently more available than most of the other
options and it seemed to me to potentially fit much of your criteria. As with any stop gap car key issues are
availability, condition and cost. Secondary issues are running costs and disposal when finished with.
I doubt that a roadworthy 2.5 will depreciate much now even with a year or so of use. Of course if you find
your elusive roadworthy V6-24v or V6-12v manual then the chances are that it will appreciate in value over a
year or so. My guess though is that you will most likely still be looking in a years time.

John,
He wont have a 2.5, he's picky, he WANTS to have 6 cylinders!
I siguested a CX Turbo but he turned it down, to be honest, 6 cylinders ARE very smooth, and sound good too...
